ABOUT
ESTABLISHED IN 2018
Heading 2
As a non profit organization located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Cape PRIDE Inc. was born in the summer of 2018. The first goal was to put on an EPIC celebration for the LGBTQ+ community of Southeast Missouri in 2019 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots & the start of the LGBTQ+ Rights Movement in the United States. That festival was a huge success and paved the way for all future goals and partnerships. n Cape Girardeau, Missouri. m a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Following the festival in 2019, we began focusing on building relationships in the local area that would help provide resources needed to better serve the needs of the LGBTQ+ community. We are proud to now be represented on the Downtown Merchants Group as well as the Chamber of Commerce. We have been very encouraged by and are appreciative of support from a growing list of sponsors and allies. We highly value relationships with other LGBTQ+ support groups in the community such as PFLAG and Free Mom Hugs, as we recognize the importance and power of being one unified force.
FOCUS AND GOALS
It is our hope that by being involved with the local community we can learn more about the specific needs of our LGBTQ+ family, while at the same time generating positive change through education and the development of needed resources. Cape Pride is currently interested specifically in our youth and transgender members who are often times at higher risk. An LGBTQ+ resource center is a long range goal for our group, as it would help us better serve individuals of the entire LGBTQ+ community in the surrounding area.
